Fractals

Fractals are quite interesting originally when I first discovered this topic, yet I never expected them to be present in the real world on any kind of scale. I thought it was simply a man made mathematical thing. http://fractalfoundation.org/2009/11/fractal-globules-in-dna/ shows how DNA uses fractals to properly fold upon itself without interfering in anyway. It's quite amazing that something can naturally form such a shape that has no knots at all. Honestly things that are natural are much more interesting than what people produce, and what we do produce that is beautiful is almost always based on something in nature. Modern architecture revolves around the idea of observing nature and producing a structure based on that.

  1. This is EXACTLY the type of post that I am looking for. Awesomeness.

"Modern architecture revolves around the idea of observing nature and producing a structure based on that."

This is true for some modern architecture, but not all, although a lot of modern architecture is based on proportions found in nature.

Classical architecture is even more rooted in nature. Do you understand how?

  2. Hey Darren i found this really interesting, and it reminded me of a program i saw on tv about new ways of reproducing cells to grow new body parts, so people don't need to use prosthetics.
